Alphabeasts Week XXby *SamWolk

It's time for another weekly alphabetical project! Instead of living, breathing animals, we're now doing an A-to-Z of mythical creatures and fictional monsters called ALPHABEASTS!

This is the first time in over fifteen years that I've drawn a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle with a full background. I wanted to go a different route than I'd ever seen. I didn't want to give it a mask, because . . . well, it's a friggin' turtle. Sure, it mutated into an anthropomorphic being, but it lives in a sewer with three other turtles and a rat. From whom must it hide its identity? I thought of sea turtles, who have a scaly pattern on their heads like reptiles. A lot of turtle breeds also have patterns on their plastrons, not just their carapaces. So that gave me some interesting ideas.

This is, of course, Raphael. He's noticed a storm grate torn open from the inside, which gives him pause. Hope he finds whatever broke in before it finds him!

Ah man, looking at this guy all big sized, I can really enjoy all the fine crosshatching and stippling you put into this drawing. Gorgeous!
