It's time for another weekly alphabetical project! Instead of living, breathing animals, we're now doing an A-to-Z of mythical creatures and fictional monsters called ALPHABEASTS!
From the border folklore of the British isles comes this vicious goblin of a creature, the Redcap. Its name stems from its red cap. Ingenious! What makes it particularly unsavory is that the red is its victims' blood, which it uses to dye its headgear.
It's thought to inhabit castle ruins and kill any who venture too near. Legend states that it must keep a steady supply of foolish wanderers on hand, for if the blood soaking its cap dries up the creature will die. It is skilled with its long pikestaff and can outrun any mortal man, so do yourself a favor and steer clear of the battlements!
