AlphaBots Week VI: F is for Frenzy

For this week's drawing I decided to go with a character from my favorite childhood distraction, the Transformers. The cartoon was the highlight of my week back in 1985. I still own all 80 issues of the Marvel comic series but none of the toys I had as a kid. I never owned Soundwave, the Decepticon cassette player, but I always wanted him. Just the idea of another, smaller robot being kept inside until ready for battle was the coolest thing to a 10 year-old me.

Frenzy was one of the cassette tapes which transformed into a robot warrior. He was one of two humanoid robots that Soundwave would deploy into battle against the Autobots. He didn't speak as much as his Decepticon brother, Rumble, in the Transformers cartoon and his toy was often confused with Rumble. This might be because in the cartoon, his colors were swapped with Rumble, whose toy color scheme was red and black.

In the comic series he was one of the original Decepticons who took part in the assault on the Ark, the Autobot ship that crashed on Earth millions of years ago. He was only around for a short time, as Omega Supreme deactivated him during a raid on the Ark led by Megatron.

Wired magazine once nominated him as one of the 12 most ridiculous Transformers of all time. So there's that.
