Time for another artistic alphabetical foray. I am drawing characters from literary sources every week for AlphaBooks.
Z is for Zaphod Beeblebrox. This manic, bombastic former President of the Galaxy is a real attention-getter. In addition to his second head, he also has a third arm which he sometimes keeps hidden from view.
Douglas Adams brought Zaphod into the public consciousness in his radio play turned novel, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
And thus, the AlphaBooks are complete! I was not prepared to do this project due to my ignorance of most literature. But I figured I should tough it out and do what I could. This drawing, as well as all but four of the ones that came before it, is from a book which I've never read. I used what information I could find online about the characters and tried to knock them out in my own style. I think I was able to achieve that mission.
Sketched with mechanical pencil, inked with Microns, and Prismacolor markers for some gray tones.
Make sure you check out the other great submissions at the AlphaBooks
